Larry Pierce sings lead for the quartet. He is an Air Reserve Technician with the 434th Air Refueling Wing at Grissom Air Reserve Base. He enjoys playing guitar, golf, sports, and arranging, writing, and listening to southern gospel, bluegrass gospel, and country gospel music.
Larry and his wife, Kathy, live near Walton, IN. They have three children, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Larry also handles the bookings and scheduling for the quartet.
Jeff Strite is the tenor for the quartet. He is also the Preaching Minister at the Church of Christ at Logansport.He plays guitar and banjo, and has written serveral songs for the group. He has helped arrange a number of other songs. His influences include Chad Mitchel Trio, Brothers Four, and the Lettermen. Jeff sang with the Purdue Glee Club for two years under Al Stewart.
Paul sings baritone for the quartet. He play guitar, writes songs, helps with the arrangements, and also plays bass guitar for his church. Paul has sang and played guitar with various Christian groups. Paul loves singing with the Sonshine Boys and spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through song. Paul also has written a patriotic song that uplifts our military, inspired by his son’s service in the Army and his tour of duty in Iraq in 2003.
He currently lives in Lake Cicott, Indiana with his wife, Jeannie.
Dave Broad sings bass for the quartet and is one of the founders of the group. Dave has sung for Christ since his immersion on June 19th, 1966. Through middle, high school, and as a Bible college graduate, he has found music to be integral to his life. Dave also contributes harmonica melodies and says he plays a pretty “mean” comb and wax paper.
He serves serves as one of the elders at his home church as well as the religious education director, Sunday School teacher, and is a partime preacher for area churches. Dave is the proud father of three adult family members, Tom, Tim, and Tasha. He is a grandfather of two girls, Peyton and Jadyn, and two grandsons, Logan and Quinn.
Dave is employed at Pulaski Memorial Hospital since 1981, and also owner of Alliance E.M.S., an Indiana certified ambulance service. Dave also enjoys teaching C.P.R./First Aid and is an evaluator for state E.M.T. classes. He enjoys Bible study, historical reading, hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, and general construction projects.
Dave lives in Winamac, Indiana with his wife Tammy.
Sandra James is plays piano and helps with arranging songs. She as been involved with music most of her life. She and her twin sister, along with their college music teacher, have produced one CD and have traveled in many states to participate in revival meetings.
Sandra has arranged music, directed many vocal combos, accompanied on either the piano or organ at numerous churches, and supervised the music as well as directing church choirs. She has also been involved with the Musettes Music club at Oxford, Ind. for over 25 years. She was entertainment chairman of Dan Patch Days at Oxford for several years, drawing entertainers from Chicago to Southern Indiana.
After moving to Tampa, Florida she was a charter member of "Sugartime Singers", filling the spot as pianist the first year, then filling the position of director. This group is still singing, growing, and performing at many nursing homes, senior centers, churches in the Tampa area, as well as the Florida State Fair.
Learning to play Southern Gospel music has been a challenge to Sandra, but serving the Lord in this way and with Godly men is a rewarding experience. She lives in Logansport, Indiana.
Chuck DeFord, joined us as bass guitar player and he just does an outstanding job! Chuck played with the local group “Light” for 23 years and we’re glad to have him as part of the Sonshine Boys group.
Chuck plays bass for the praise band at his local church and helps arrange songs, teaches others to play, and assists in the sound setup for the Sonshine Boys.
